Tadasana is the foundation for all other standing postures in yoga. It's often one of the first postures you'll see in a yoga class. This posture helps to establish a firm base and extend the spine--great for those of us who sit at a desk most days.
When practicing tadasana, be sure to press down through your feet to engage the muscles of your legs and reach up through the crown of your head, standing really tall to lengthen your spine while reaching out through your fingers. You'll feel tall and proud in this standing posture.
