Get the bold taste of slow-cooked birria on a busy weeknight. Sliced chicken breasts are tossed directly in dry seasoning, seared in a hot pan, and cooked alongside crisp bell peppers and onions.
A Glossy Finish
A quick splash of broth reduces into a dark, rich glaze that coats every ingredient, leaving you with a delicious single-pan meal and minimal cleanup.
Good to Know: While traditional birria features red meat, poultry pairs wonderfully with warm spices like oregano and cumin, delivering a lighter meal with identical aromatic depth.
Ingredients
1.5 lbs boneless, skinless chicken breasts, sliced into thin strips
2.5 tbsp FreshJax Birria Seasoning
1 bell pepper, sliced
1 small yellow onion, sliced
2 tbsp cooking oil
1/2 cup chicken broth
Directions
Toss the chicken strips in a bowl with the Birria seasoning until evenly coated.
Heat oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add the chicken strips and sear for 5 minutes until golden.
Toss in the sliced bell pepper and onion. Sauté for another 4-5 minutes until the veggies soften slightly.
Pour in the chicken broth, lowering the heat to medium. Let it simmer for 3-4 minutes, scraping up any browned bits from the bottom of the pan, until the liquid reduces into a glossy glaze coating the chicken.
