Bring bold culinary creativity to your kitchen with Birria Ramen (Birriamen). By simmering instant ramen noodles directly in leftover spiced birria consommé, you get a complex soup that balances Mexican chili-and-clove undertones with classic noodle bowl warmth.
Loaded with Toppings
Top your bowl high with tender birria beef, a soft-boiled jammy egg, sliced jalapeños, and fresh cilantro. It’s an unbeatable option for a hearty lunch or late-night craving.
Good to Know: Birriamen was born in Tijuana's cross-border food stalls. It uses the heavy umami profile of Mexican beef consommé to replace traditional Japanese dashi or pork bone broth without losing depth.
Ingredients
2 packs instant ramen noodles, discard the seasoning packets
3 cups reserved Birria Consommé
1 cup water
1 tbsp FreshJax Birria Seasoning, for an extra flavor punch
1 cup shredded birria beef
2 soft-boiled eggs, halved
Toppings: Cilantro, sliced jalapeños, chopped white onion, lime wheel
Directions
In a medium saucepan, combine the reserved birria consommé, water, and the extra tablespoon of Birria seasoning. Bring to a lively simmer over medium-high heat.
Drop the ramen noodles into the boiling broth and cook for roughly 3 minutes until tender.
Divide the noodles and broth into two large bowls.
Top each bowl with a mound of warm shredded birria beef, a soft-boiled egg, raw onions, fresh cilantro, and jalapeño slices. Squeeze fresh lime juice over the top right before eating.
