Upgrade lunch into a gourmet experience. Thick sourdough slices are slathered with a custom butter infused with FreshJax Birria seasoning, then grilled low and slow until the exterior turns golden and crispy.
Rich & Satisfying
Inside, gooey melted cheese holds together tender shreds of savory birria meat. Every bite offers a balance of buttery crunch, melted cheese, and earthy chili warmth.
Good to Know: Mixing spice blends directly into softened butter before cooking blooms the spices gently against the pan. This technique prevents burning while infusing the entire bread crust with flavor.
Ingredients
4 slices thick slices of sourdough bread
2 tbsp butter, softened
1 tsp FreshJax Birria Seasoning
1 cup shredded birria beef
1 cup shredded cheddar or Pepper Jack cheese
Directions
In a small bowl, mix the softened butter with 1 tsp of Birria seasoning until fully combined.
Spread this seasoned butter evenly on one side of all four slices of bread.
Place two slices of bread, butter-side-down, into a cold skillet.
Layer half the cheese, all of the shredded birria beef, and the remaining cheese onto the bread slices. Top with the remaining bread slices, butter-side-up.
Turn the heat to medium-low. Cook slowly for 4-5 minutes per side, pressing gently, until the bread is deeply golden brown and the cheese is entirely melted.
