The FreshJax® Rosy Cheeks Maple Bourbon BBQ Blend works its magic over several hours, mingling with the natural fats of the pork to create a rich, self-made barbecue sauce. The result is a profile that balances the sweetness of autumn maple with the bold, savory kick of a backyard grill—perfect for piling high on toasted brioche buns.
Good to Know: Resist the urge to add extra liquid to the slow cooker! A pork shoulder produces plenty of its own juices. Cooking it in too much water or broth will "boil" the meat rather than braising it, which can dilute that intense maple bourbon flavor.
3–4 lbs pork shoulder
2 tbsp Rosy Cheeks® Maple Bourbon BBQ Seasoning (or more to your heart’s desire!)
½ cup apple cider vinegar
½ cup water
Rub pork shoulder generously with Rosy Cheeks® Maple Bourbon BBQ Blend.
Place in slow cooker and pour apple cider vinegar + water around the pork.
Cover and cook on LOW for 8 hours (no peeking!).
Shred with two forks directly in the pot, mixing juices back into the meat.
Serve piled high on buns, tacos, or grain bowls.
